Overview
Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking Software Developers or Senior Software Developers to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site (SRS).
The Software Developer develops, designs and/or modifies operating facility web-based applications and related software applications; is involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards; evaluates interface between operational requirements, hardware and software, and characteristics of overall system; documents testing and maintenance of system corrections; designs and maintains web based, mobile technology, cloud, and security interface to meet the specific software needs of users.
Responsibilities
Generates, revises, updates, compiles, debugs and writes scientific or software computer programs by applying frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and technologies and provides solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity
Develops flow charts and diagrams outlining process steps in operation; develops and revises program code.
Prepares documentation of program development, modifications to code and operating instructions.
Conducts program tests and may be required to analyze system capabilities to resolve input/output problems.
Researches, designs, develops, and/or modifies applications software.
Involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards.
Evaluates interface between hardware and software, operational requirements, and characteristics of overall system.
Documents testing and maintenance of system corrections.
Builds and codes applications and/or modules using languages such as C#, VB.net, XML, HTML, JavaScript, ASP.NET, etc.
Installs patches and upgrades to existing systems.
Designs web based, mobile technology, cloud, and security interface to meet the specific needs of users. Prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
May have subcontractor management responsibility.
Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgement, overall adequacy and accuracy.
Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific projects where errors may cause delays and expenditure of resources to rectify.
Works primarily with internal contacts and has some contact with customer on routine matters.
Other duties as assigned.
Additional responsibilities as a Senior Software Developer:

Plans system and development deployment
May design, model, document, and guide the logical and conceptual relationship of data and database changes for complex applications.
Analyzes needs and requirements of existing and proposed systems, and develops technical, structural, and organizational specifications.
May create standards and/or perform modeling to monitor and enhance capacity and performance.
Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
Contributes to completion specific projects where erroneous decisions may result in serious project delays and considerable expenditure of resources to rectify.
Works frequently across organization and with customers on difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
Defines standards for organization to comply with industry (IEEE) guidance.

Additional Information
The duties and responsibilities of this position require access to the Savannah River Site (SRS) IT computer network. DOE-NNSA requires SRMC employees to have U.S. citizenship in order to access the SRS IT computer network system.
Qualifications
High school diploma with relevant practical experience
Candidate(s) selected to receive an offer will be offered the position level commensurate with their experience and qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's or Masters degree in Computer Science or related field with 4+ years of practical work experience; or
Recognizes the operational Support Systems which typically include facility control room Electronic Status Boards (ESB), Electronic Operator Rounds (EOR) and Limited Condition of Operations (LCO) tracking systems; or
Familiar with the facility regulatory operating basis and other facility control systems.

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC), a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, is responsible for managing the Department of Energys Savannah River Sites Liquid Waste operations contract. Located in Aiken, South Carolina, SRMC is a limited liability company formed by nuclear operations and environmental remediation global leaders BWXT, Amentum, and Fluor. The SRMC Team is responsible for the closure of waste tanks, the operation of the Savannah River Sites Defense Waste Processing Facility, tank farm operations and associated production and disposal facilities.
